Meet Dr. Elena Shea

Board Certified Pediatrician and Lactaction Consultant

Dr. Elena grew up in Miami, FL and always imagined a career working with children. After attending Yale University, where she majored in history, and Tufts University School of Medicine, she moved to the DMV to complete pediatric residency at Georgetown University Hospital. After residency she settled in Northern Virginia with her husband. Dr. Shea developed a passion for breastfeeding medicine after her own struggles to nurse her children. She is currently board certified in lactation and breastfeeding medicine and is an IBCLC. She joined Farrell Pediatrics in 2022. Dr. Elena lives in Reston with her husband and 3 young children (their forth is in college locally). In her off time she loves reading and spending time with her family.

Stone Springs Hospital Center

Please note that as of Saturday, November 14, 2020, Farrell and South Riding Pediatrics will no longer round on newborns at INOVA Fair Oaks or Reston Hospitals. Newborns born at these hospitals will be seen by hospitalist pediatricians and advised when to make a first appointment with our office. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing all newborns in the office.
